South Indian cinema is brimming with gorgeous girls. With curly hair and bold features, one such talented actress is Malvika Nair. About the Life of Malvika
While Malvika was born and brought up in New Delhi, her family moved to Kerala when she was just a little girl. She completed her schooling at Toc H Public School in Vyttila, Kochi. However, she later returned to Delhi for her higher education, which she completed at DAV Sreshtha Vihar. Recently in 2018, she graduated from Hyderabad’s St Francis College for Women.
While completing her studies, Malvika started modeling. She got roles in many advertisements and also got a chance to be a part of a music video directed by Mohan Sithara, Rithukkal. Her acting in the song was appreciated, and thus she eventually entered the South Indian film industry.
The Initiation of Her Career
In the beginning, she got supporting or cameo roles, such as in the movie Ustad Hotel, where she made a brief appearance in a song. Later in Puthiya Theerangal, she played the role of Nedumudi Venu’s daughter. In the movie Karamayodha, she played the role of Mohanlal’s daughter.
The turning point in her career was marked by the Malayalam drama film Black Butterfly in 2013. In the movie, she played the role of Reena, the housemaid who faced an acid attack. The movie was a remake of Vazhakku Enn and was a critically acclaimed movie also loved by the audience. After that, she was also seen in a Malayalam movie Pakida in which she played the role of a fifteen-year-old girl.
The Projects That Followed
Her performance in the movie Black Butterfly caught the attention of Balaji Sakthivel, who was the director of the original version of the movie. He thus recommended Raju Murugan– an aspiring director- to cast Malvika Nair in his romantic drama movie. Consequently, Malvika bagged the role of an independent blind girl in his movie Cuckoo.
She was so dedicated to her work that before portraying the role in the movie, Malvika attended a workshop on blind people where she interacted with them. In the movie, she was paired with Dinesh, and she won the hearts of critics for her role. As a result, she became the recipient of the following awards-
- Filmfare Award for Best Actress
- Vijay Award for Best Debut Actress
- SICA Award for Best Newcomer, and
- Vikatan Award for Best Actress.
After that, the doors of multiple film industries and roles open up for Malvika Nair. In 2015, she got a role opposite the famous actor Vijay Deverakonda in Yevade Subramanyam– a Telugu movie. Her next release was in 2016, opposite Naga Shourya- a romantic drama named Kalyana Vaibhogame.
Her most recent project is the Telugu film Thank You, which was released in 2022. Also, she appeared in the Amazin Prime Video OTT series named Modern Love Hyderabad in 2022. She is currently filming for 2-3 upcoming Telugu movies as well.
