Ashok got married to famous Marathi actress Nivedita Joshi-Saraf in 1990, and they had a very simple wedding at a temple in Goa. The couple also has a son named Aniket Saraf, who decided to follow his passion, and he is a chef by profession.

Ashok started working in the film and television industry in 1969. The actor was just 18 years old when he first started doing Marathi plays and theatre. Till now, he has been featured in more than 250 Marathi films and has a track record of more than 100 commercially successful movies.
