Sometimes you become a part of something unintentionally and become a major issue. Something similar happened to comedian Samay Raina’s gf.
Apparently, she has nothing to do with the incident, but her involvement has offended the entire female population of the country.
You know, when it comes to comedy, the boundaries are being expanded, and people are getting more tolerant of dark humor. Though India does not appreciate these kinds of humor, there are still a considerable amount of people that actually like this western concept of dark comedy.
If you ask me, I don’t think that this kind of comedy should be appreciated, but in the end, it depends on people and their likes.
For those you don’t know, dark comedy is a form of comedy where comedians joke about things that are not socially or ethically acceptable. For example, joking about rape or murder or suicide, etc.
Samay Raina also wrote a dark joke on Twitter, and it was sexist. A lot of women and, in fact, men protested against him. But he defended himself, saying that it was nothing but a joke and people should take it lightly.
The Entire Controversy
So, Samay Raina’s girlfriend appeared in a tweet that was actually a joke. It goes like this: his girlfriend made him delete a tweet that was actually a joke on her. If in the future he made her abort her child, then she should not say that it’s her body and her choice.
This dark joke was made on the feministic slogan my body, my choice. Though there were 8k likes, a lot of people didn’t like him joking about such a sensitive topic.
Especially women all around the country found it very offensive and called it insensitive. But things took a more complex turn when Samay defended himself, saying that it was nothing but a joke, to which the reaction was furious.
Had made a simple joke saying 'My girlfriend made me delete my funny tweet so I guess I can now make her delete her fetus'. Was an obviously ironical joke.

Furthermore, we noticed how he kept on defending himself by posting the sayings of various artists and comedians and saying that comedy has no limits and no restrictions. He should not be told how and when to make jokes.
No matter what, he’s gonna continue that because the real motive of comedy is to make 50% of people laugh while the others are terrified.

No matter what, the real purpose of comedy has always been making people laugh without offending anybody, and a lot of comedians have been doing that successfully, so why not him?
Conclusion
It does not matter which comedian you like. They all are pretty different from each other. But when we see comedians whom people gave their love to and made them win various shows acting like this, it breaks hearts.
Moreover, the woman on whom the entire joke was made didn’t show up. In fact, we don’t even know whether she actually exists or not.
As we are talking about comedians, artists like Purav Jha have shown that you can pay respect and make people laugh at the same time.
