Ruskin’s Biography and Early Life

Born to Edith Clarke and Aubrey Bond on May 19, 1934, in Kasauli Himachal Pradesh, India. His father was in the Royal Air Force. When Ruskin was eight years old, the separation of his parents took place.

After the divorce, his mother got married to a Punjabi-Hindu man. His bond with his mother was more complex they had very little affection. But his father’s attention was all his that helped him grow. Suddenly his father departed and that left him broken. 

Early life

After the sudden demise of his father, he went to his grandmother in Dehradun. From Bishop Cotton School in Shimla, he had his early education. During his school, he took part in many writing competitions which he won. In the year 1952, he completed his graduation. His childhood was tough and lonely. Ruskin’s first story was untouchable at the age of 16. When he was 21, his first novel ‘The room on the Roof’ was published. He has been writing for more than 5 decades. Despite being successful, Bond is a media-shy person. He spends his day with his adopted family near Dehradun. He got “The Sahitya Akademi Award” for his writing “Our Trees Still Grows in Dehra.” He is also been awarded with the most prestigious award, Padma Shri.

He has claimed that the author’s editing of the imprint magazine was put on during the Emergency when limitations were put on media. This was the reason why a warrant against him was issued. The charges were dropped as the Judge mentioned that he has read Bond’s work and is a fan of him.
