Prabhavati Yugandhar’s Contribution to the Life of Satya Nadella

Prabhavati Yugandhar And Bukkapuran Nadella Yugandhar are the parents of Satya Narayana Nadella. Nadella became the CEO of Microsoft in 2014. He was Steve Ballmer’s successor and Microsoft’s first Indian-origin CEO.

Like any other Indian, Satya Nadella’s family and values helped him acquire this prestigious position. Let us read in detail how Prabhavati Yugandhar played a major role in shaping the character and the life of Satya Nadella.

The Childhood of Satya Nadella

The birthplace of Satya Nadella was Hyderabad, India (present-day Telangana). He was welcomed to the world by his father and his mother on 19th August 1967. His family was a Telugu-speaking Hindu family.

Nadella completed his schooling at Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet. After that, he went on to pursue his Bachelor in Electrical Engineering (B.E.) in the year 1988 from MIT (Manipal Institute of Technology) in Karnataka.

To complete his further studies, Nadella was encouraged by his mother to travel to the U.S. There, he completed his M.S. in computer science in 1990 from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. In 1997, he finished his MBA from the University of Chicago.

Bukkapuran Nadella Yugandhar and Prabhavati Yugandhar

The father of Satya Nadella- Bukkapuran Nadella Yugandhar was an esteemed officer in the Indian Administrative Services. He was a part of some game-changing projects and plans at important roles in the state and the federal government.

He served in the 1962 IAS batch and even worked for the Prime Minister’s office before retiring. It was the passion and values of B.N. Yugandhar that inspired Natella to reach these heights of success.

Nadella was the closest to his mother- Prabhavati Yugandhar. She was a lecturer at Tirupati’s Padmavathi College. Since the age of 3, Nadella has seen her mother, Prabhavati Yugandhar, fulfill all her duties towards her college, her family, and civic duties, considering the post her husband was appointed to.

This helped him acquire the virtue of mindfulness and a strong intellect. He used to play in the classroom where here mother delivered lectures, and thus he looks up to the women to gather essential insights into life lessons.

The work-life balance of his father and his dedication to the people he served was something that Nadella always admired. His father would say that history has always taught us that doctrinaire thinking and dogma put people and societies into trouble. Thus, every person must have an open mind, must be open to change, and keep their curiosity alive, always.

How Prabhavati Yugandhar Helped Him Become a Better Father?

The life and career of Nadella were very much inspired and guided by the life and principles of his father and his mother. His father passed away in 2019 after struggling with a disease for a few years. Nadella still tries to live by his principles. Satya Nadella had three children- Zain Nadella, Tara Nadella, and Divya Nadella.

Zain Nadella, the firstborn of Satya and Anupama, was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy. This brought in a challenging time for the parents. However, inspired by Nadella’s parents, both of them tried to be the best parents and took great care of him.

The empathy and the family values that Nadella’s parents- especially Prabhavati Yugandhar had given him made him strong in difficult times. Zain Nadella took his last breath at the age of 26 on 1st March 2022.

Hit Refresh!

In 2015, Satya Nadella started writing his own book “Hit Refresh.” It was an amalgamation of his life stories concerning his personal life, his career, and his views over the coming wave of change in the world, especially technological and economic.

In this book, he has highlighted the strong connection and relationship that he has with his mother Prabhavati Yugandhar. The story of Satya Nadella clearly indicates the importance family values have in our life.

Despite being such an enormous personality, Nadella never detached himself from his parents and his roots. This makes him more inspiring for the Indian youth and the young people from other regions trying to make a successful career overseas.
