All About Jagruti Pathak Journalist

Jagruti Pathak Journalist was a top crime reporter who became the prime suspect in the murder of another journalist. Jagruti Pathak was a very ambitious reporter.

Karishma Tanna was in the lead role of the Netflix series Scoop. Directed by Hansal Mehta it has stars like Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Harman Baweja, and Prosenjit Chatterjee. This series is based on the real-life story of Mumbai-based journalist Jigna Vora, who was arrested for the murder of a Veteran crime reporter. Let us know about the life of Jigna Vora.

Who is Jigna Vora?

Jigna studied at Mumbai’s Ruparel College and did a diploma course. She was influenced by one of her faculty and chose crime reporting. Her parents forced her to get married and leave her internship at a law firm. They have chosen an engineer who ran a printing press in Gujarat.

After some time, her marriage ended on a bad note and she returned to her parent’s house in Mumbai in 2004 with her four-year-old son. After all this happened, she decided to pursue a career in media, and in 2005 she joined the courtroom.

In December 2005, Jigna covered her first story related to the underworld where Chhota Rajan’s wife Sujata Nikhalje was arrested. She had the charge of extortion against a builder.

But she came into limelight in the year 2011 when was the suspect in the murder conspiracy of Jyotirmoy Dey crime Journalist

About Jyotirmoy Dey Murder

In Hiranandani, Powai, prominent reporter J Dey was shot by unidentified gunmen. The murderers were allegedly later found to be members of a gang affiliated with Chhota Rajan.

Following the preliminary inquiry, the Mumbai Police booked Jigna and Chhota Rajan with the murder of J Dey. Because of her negative interview with the underworld a few weeks prior, she was ultimately considered one of the suspects.

Jigna and Jyotirmoy Dey

Vora was prosecuted for providing Rajan with information on Dey, including his address and the bike’s license plate number. In 2012, she was freed on bond after serving nine months in jail.

The matter was taken over by the CBI later in 2016. She added that she spoke with Rajan for an interview and refuted all of the accusations made against her.

Vora’s Acquittal

Due to a dearth of evidence, Jigna was acquitted of all charges in the 2018 special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court after the trial lasted seven years. Following her acquittal on all counts, she penned her memoir Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison, which serves as the basis for Mehta’s television series Scoop.

Jigna writes of her experience of being set up for a murder. She also mentioned in her book how she vehemently refuted the accusations made against her.

Her horrific incarceration experience is described in full in her memoir. In addition, she has written about her experiences covering front-page stories as a crime reporter and court proceedings.

Jigna talked about her friendship with Pragya Thakur in jail as well as how she was asked to strip by female constables when she was on her period. “On my aluminum plate, I had two chapatis, some vegetables, and dal,” was an excerpt from her book. Black hair strands bobbed in the dal’s moisture. I set the plate down and started crying again. My gut clenched with pain.

I had not eaten much since my apprehension. Even though I was weary and worn out, I could not force myself to consume the food I had been served.

She also talked about the suffering of female inmates and her experience cleaning cells and restrooms while incarcerated. Jigna, who is currently a tarot reader and healer, talked about the accusations made against her and how the police discovered what appeared to be circumstantial evidence linking her to gangster Rajan.

Jigna reportedly resides in Mumbai with her son at the moment. Her precise whereabouts haven’t been confirmed, though.

Series Based on Vora’s Life

The Netflix series Scoop directed by Hansal Mehta is based on her life. In the film, Karishma Tanna portrays Jagruti Pathak journalist, a crime reporter, and newspaper deputy bureau chief.

One day, Jagruti Pathak gets an interview with Chhota Rajan’s gang member Nana who is Chhota Rajan himself, one of the biggest figures in the underworld. The teaser goes on to demonstrate Jagruti Pathak’s strong network in the industry, which helps her in high-profile interviews and even formal confirmation from the police in the event of a major crime or incident. She and the other journalists are envious of this.

Scoop series

But when Chota Rajan’s goons murder Jaideb Sen (Prosenjit Chatterjee) in cold blood, everything turns upside down. Subsequently, Jagruti Pathak was detained and made the primary suspect.

Even though the majority of people think Jagruti is guilty, she still needs to struggle to clear her record.

Jigna Vora’s brief interview, in which she talks about the “nightmare” and “humiliation” of her incarceration, concludes the program. Despite her ability to “never forget” how this event altered her life, Vora claims she has forgiven everyone.

In contrast to the fictionalized portrayal of her Jagruti Pathak Journalist, Vora was never able to reenter the journalism field. It has a montage that states that about 102 journalists have been “murdered, arrested, or went missing” since 2000.

Final Note:

The Netflix series Scoop was based on Jigna Vora’s life. In this series names of many characters have been changed Jigna Vora changed to Jagruti Pathak Journalist, Jyotirmoy Dey Jaideb Sen, and more.
