How many of you love watching movies? It’s me! But my love for movies does not have any boundaries, and I love the fact that despite the language adversity, I can watch movies and listen to songs as well. These top 5 film industries i
I still remember how I first listened to the Hindi version of the song “Srivalli” before I listened to the original one. It was then I realized the power of translation and Javed Ali.
But one thing that I really like about these top 5 film industries in India is the pattern. If you look closely, different film industries have different types of movies. Moreover, they are known for a particular thing.
For example, when we talk about South Indian movies, it is all about the action, and the special effects, which sometimes become unrealistic but entertaining.
Furthermore, Bollywood is known for experimentation. Movies like Taare Zameen Par, Pk, are one of the greatest creations. So, are there only good movies in Bollywood? Not at all. The quality has decreased a lot nowadays.
But the fact that those movies are superhit because Bollywood makes movies for all. People who watch movies just for entertainment and also for those who love art.
There are more things to talk about regarding the movies and the artists. So, let’s begin, shall we?
Bollywood
Okay, so the number one on our list is Bollywood. The industry is all about drama, art, thoughts, dance, great music, and a little bit of favoritism. Well, it is a bit controversial to say that there is favoritism in Bollywood, but it is true to some extent.
There are some prominent families that run Bollywood, and that is the Khans and the Kapoors, and the Malhotras too.
Yes, I know there are some actors who are not celebrity kids, like Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, and Manoj Bajpayee, but it took them a lot more time to reach the front screen compared to the celebrity kids.
But the celebrity kids are not less. Actors like Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have proved that hard work is all that matters.
Now, let’s talk about the movies. If you want to judge Bollywood, watch these movies –
- PK
- Jab We Met
- Dangal
- Taare Zameen Par
- Phir Hera Pheri
- Oh My God
- Partner, etc.
You know, what’s the special part? Almost three generations of actors are working together in this industry. It ultimately makes it more diverse.
Tollywood
The next film industry that Indians are crazy about is none other than the Tollywood film industry or the Telugu film industry.
Yes, yes, I’m talking about Bahubali, RRR (the oscar winning movie), Makkhi, Sita Raman, Arjun Reddy, and many more.
I just love the adversity. Bahubali is a historical fiction movie. Arjun Reddy, on the other hand, is about a toxic love story.
It is the industry that inspires Bollywood nowadays. What else does it have to offer? The charm. Have you watched Sita Ramam? The cinematography, the costume designing, everything gives birth to charm that can never be copied.
Telugu film Industry thinks, and the others copy.
Tollywood
You must be wondering why I wrote Tollywood twice. It is not the same. There is another Tollywood industry, the Bengali film industry, one of the best film industries in India.
What’s so special about it? The content cannot be copied at all. The Bengali film industry is about the detective movies of Byomkesh Bakshi, Feluda, etc.
It is also about some modern murder mysteries like “22 she Srabon.” I love the fact that Tollywood is utilizing the habit of reading books so well in the movies.
Bengal is all about books, music, paintings, and, obviously, food. The reason I love Bengali movies is not that I belong to Kolkata but the clear and authentic representation of the book or the story in the movies.
I love how a simple description in the book can give birth to a beautiful scene. It happens only in Bengali movies, and I take huge pride in saying that.
I’m a bookworm, so I like reading books a lot. I read the majority of literary pieces in my teenage years. Bengali cinema can literally portray the greed of a ghost. It is nothing but the exact representation of the book.
It is not easy at all. Perhaps, this is what makes the Bengali film industry stand out.
Kollywood
All the Rajni fans! Put your hands up! I am grateful to Kollywood. I loved Rajnikant, and I love him more for the movie “Robot.” Yes, I’m talking about the Hindi version. Haha!
Indian people are simply crazy about Rajnikant. His charm, his expressions, and his ability to play younger roles, just like Amitabh Bachchan, win people’s hearts. Do you know R Madhavan?
Yes, the “abba nahi manenge” guy is actually a Tamil actor. Haha, what a surprise, isn’t it?
Sandalwood Film Industry
I don’t have to describe how great the Kannada movie industry is. The top 5 film industries in India are known by this industry nowadays. You know, I love the movie KGF. All the action, drama, and dialogues are just outstanding.
Yes, you have guessed it right, KGF is a Kannada movie. Hmm, let me give you the latest example. Kantara movie has earned a lot more than the making budget. Famous stars like Hrithik Roshan have appreciated this movie.
It made Bollywood think of how ignorant it has become. I never knew that a god called “Panjurli” existed until I watched this movie.
I was afraid and proud at the same time while watching the movie. You can imagine the strength of the industry, in my words.
Wrapping up
The Indian film industry is all about emotions. Same movie and the same story, but two industries made it appear completely different. The character of Arjun Talwar got famous in the South, but the Bollywood version couldn’t do the magic.
But this is where the beauty lies. The industries are so versatile that you can take inspiration from one movie to make the next, and it will never stop. The continuous flow of inspiration.
